Sego Lily

Mt Jefferson above and the fields of Culver, Jefferson County

Just love these big dandelion weeds, big old puffs... NOT in my yard tho!!!  NO, no, no, but out in the wilds like to get them in just the right light...

More Sego Lily, they just grow out in the driest ever area...
Mom always told a story about the Lily.. that a pioneer brought his true love to the desert and she hated it, there was nothing beautiful about it, to her, at all.  She told him that she would give him a year to show her one thing, just ONE thing that was beautiful in this Godforsaken area... and she would stay and not leave for home and the East... and in the middle of the hot, hot summer he took her out to the desert and showed her a Sego Lily. And it was truly beautiful and she stayed with her own true love and came to appreciate the desert....
Mom loved that story, I am sure it is true...
The Lily is beautiful, sitting out there in the middle of nothing at times... and it shines and makes you stop in your travels and take notice....

Take Care All and God Bless

  1. They are beautiful. But I think all the flowers that can grow out in the desert are beautiful and amazing.
