Cards done

 Got my Christmas cards all done!!!  What was i thinking? there were so many steps to finish them.. eight different steps in all. Had two prototypes done, then started doing batches of different steps before they all come together.  Cutting, punching, stamping, tying...geez.. Will get a picture of them later to post after the recipients get them.  Because they are a gift sort of for people i know and want them to be surprised.  some of them follow the blog :)
Took two days of concerted effort to finish and then write a letter for some people i don't see all the time. Then write the envelopes, stuff and stamp. DONE

And here is little Luci, she is sound asleep, took a couple pictures and she never did move, wonder if she dreams, seems they do at times when they are barking in their sleep or running.  What does she really have to be tired about?  Look, her little chin is getting white hairs, my little girl will be 5 on Dec 7th.
She is in her little bed between my chair and the wall.

another day

I got nothing,  Have not blogged for awhile as nothing really going on, just life.  Made all the phone calls was supposed to make today rather than procrastinate. Laundry consisted of bedding, changed out for winter covers and sheets.   Took dogs for a walk, we have added on another block!  That is a good thing. Two days in a row, wahoo.... weather has been mild really, strange. Made turkey tettrazini for dinner and son advised he does not like dark meat. Well, geez, how did i not know that?  Beggars can't be choosers and that was dinner :)  sucks to be you!

Recap

Well, first off, we had a lovely meal and visit. Just four of us Brian and me, brother Jerry and sister-in-law, Rita and a niece showed up later.  We looked at old family photo albums and talked, laughed, cried. It was a good time. AND i think since there are less than 12 of us now, i don't need a 23# turkey!!!! EVERYONE took home LOTS of leftovers.
But while fixing the dressing i grated the first knuckle of my right hand middle finger. Boy it bled like hell for the longest time!
THEN, me and gravy do not really get along. Don't know what it is. BUT this year there was a recipe in the paper, i followed it, strictly, using cold water to mix with the flour even, all was going well, it was even getting thick, went to put in some pepper, wait...  wait.....  yes, you guessed it!  The top came off the newly cleaned pepper shaker plopping perhaps a half cup of pepper into my first ever just about right gravy!!!! OMG what to do???  Quick got a spoon and started dipping it out!!!!  It was sort of all clumped together in there and that seemed to work pretty well, no one complained, thought it was good, and it was almost gone.  Of course u have to realize that quite a bit went out with the pepper..... But all in all it was a save.
Today went shopping, but did not get up until 9a, so was not there for the early morning doorbusters and missed out on some sales, i will survive. Traffic was even bad by the time i got there, can't imagine what it was before. Well, i can as i have been there, done that... Now i am older and wiser :) and not sleep deprived.
Now we are going into the Christmas Holiday Season everyone take care on the roads out there and watch the weather!

Day b4

Was just going to have Wordless Wednesday, but decided i was more wordy than that! :)
Phone stopped working,  Just said it was cancelling, WTH is that??  for over 24 hours for goodness sake, and that the sid card was removed and it was NOT. So had to run to Sprint.  keep forgetting to take out the battery which resets everything.  That is all the salesperson did and now it works, i am happy. Crisis averted.
Now i am going to go make some molasses cookies for the son. He has been grousing that i never cook anymore... well, yeah, why? when i can't eat it.... so for the holiday, my big concession, just have to NOT any :(....  Have a HUGE turkey to do tomorrow, and family coming over.  Weatherwise we are going to be pretty mild, that is always good, that family does not have to travel in a blizzard. Everything is picked up and put away, floors are clean, i am ready.

Curtains!

 Today made cafe' curtains for the sun room, kitchen and bathroom. Big navy blue checks.  Brian put them up for me. Thought that would make him more a part of the decorating. he has been grousing that not many of 'his' things are in the house. He seemed to think they were ok....
(oops, please ignore the mess)  This is one of the things have been wanting to get done prior to the holidays...

Also finished and blocked a baby blanket that i completed.
It is grey outside... once again, BUT no precipitation..that is a good thing.
Found the special seafood dip at Costco, different packaging, the sorry souls, why would they do that? My brother LOVES that dip. Just have to do the little grocery shopping for fresh veggies for the dressing and will be all ready for lift off..........

Branching out

Not much going on, just life.
Last night there were big winds. This morning the wind chime kept hitting the same note, over and over and over again, geez!  Have plans tho...family coming to my house for Thanks day. Tomorrow going to go to a place called RealDealz that is only open Fridays and Saturday for short hours, BUT they have really good dealz on decorating items.  Then the Holiday Food & Gift Festival is at the Fairgrounds this week end and HAVE to go there, as they have a Cutco knives booth, or they did last year and hoping they have them again this year too as want to get the GREATEST cheese knife in the world for two friends/relatives.  Cleaned house yesterday. Always feel SO much better with a clean space to live in.
Am doing really well with the bipap, had a doctor appt Tuesday and they were really pleased.  Have gone thru 5 masks tho! My cousin John gave me advice on a web site of where to get supplies and they had different ones. Asked the distributor here and lo, they had one a 'Swift for Her' and it is working really well.  It has nasal pillows, sounds gross huh? Have another gel one to try. Have not done that yet as with everything i do, like the one i am using so why change, but one of these days will get bold and try it too :)
I do that with lots of things in life.  As an example: we have a little cafe type place on Galveston called Brother John's, has really neat sandwiches and salads.  I always get the half a blue cheese cobb, well last time i branched out, (omg) and had a crab cake po' boy and it was good, BUT wished i had stayed with the salad as i REALLY like that.  Why try something else when u know what u like?  huh???  Just the way i am, hard to branch out and try something new, when the tried and true works so well!!!!
AND this is the way i am alot of the time, the way i eat, the same all the time, hard to branch out and try new things, to even THINK of different things.  When traveling would normally stay in KOA as u know what u are going to get, mostly no surprises, normally always clean, spaced well and all the hook-ups, no surprises there. Like at Interstate RV in Davenport, Iowa, when got all settled could not find the cable hook-up?  well that is becuz they did not have cable, OMG!!!!  no TV!!!  for 3 months???? I managed, but was not a happy camper.....
Have to stretch and explore, keep trying to remember that and do it!!!!

Day Trip to Bend

Three Sisters were beautiful today! Went to Bend to help my former landlord clean out her garage. I know that sounds like i am being REALLY kind, BUT i did help her get it to looking the way it did, due to my move.  So, only fair.  Turned cold later in the day.  There was even some snow on the sides of the road on the Old Hwy to Bend in the Tumalo area. On the way home stopped in at two more Xmas Bazaars, but saw nothing interesting :(.  It was a good day.

Veteran's Day

11-11-11...  Veterans Day.
We always found it ironic that Dad, a veteran of WWII, going in at Omaha Beach on D-Day, never got to have Veteran's Day off. Whereas we, the kids and Mom, a teacher, always did.
Thank You to all Veterans for all they did and continue to do on a daily basis.

Sun!

We both have colds...  but i write when it is nasty and grey, so today it was nice and sunny, even took the dogs out for a walk!!!
A question for the ages, isn't there a time/age when one could expect to NO longer get zits???  Just asking... just sayin' It is cruel, right up there along with unspecified hair in weird noticeable places.

Grey Day

What a dull, grey, drippy day.  Woke up finally at 10a (after clocks were rolled back!)  Was up late last night trying to figure if NetFlix is worth it or not.  They don't seem to have alot of current movies.  Old ones, yes. There was even snow falling!!!  Some built up in the corners of things,  lightly falling is all.  Water dripping off the roof. The day has not gotten any better.  I have sat right here in my chair, watching Sunday Morning, reading the BIG Sunday paper (Bend Bulletin) Watched a movie, Now am on the computer.  Luci has been in my lap the WHOLE time, except when i got up twice and threw her out!!!  She took exception to that after a couple minutes, after doing her duty one would hope!!!  Cold out there.  The road is bare and wet, no wind,  some blue in the sky but overall grey, grey, grey....

Xmas Bazaar

 Christmas Bazaar season has started.  Snowflake is the 1st and one of the largest. Lately held at the Deschutes Co Fairgrounds. It has been around for 36 years!!  Could not believe the sign when i saw it.  Remember when i went to it in the old Presbyterian Church here in Redmond.   Always lots of neat home made things that u look at and think u could do that yourself.  I bought a couple samples of crocheted things that i am sure i could duplicate!!!

 These little guys were the cutest things.

 And i loved these guys, looks like they were made out of an old bedspread maybe?
They always have neat little things and some bigger items. Lots of stocking stuffers and xmas ornaments.  It just goes on and on.  Even had a separate room this year for just jewelry. Western items, things made with horse shoes, old barn wood and barbed wire, lots of bird houses. stuffed animals.  This year there were things from Peru made of alpaca, it was so soft.  Couple years ago they had Fair Market Trade items/baskets from Guatemala.  Got two of those.  Lots of snowmen, angels,  handmade dolls, plaques, pictures (painted and photos)  Then they have the mixes for dips and different roasted nuts, jellies and jams, soaps and bath salts.  Smells like Christmas.  Christmas music is playing.  It is the 1st time for all of these wonderful, homey things.  People are cheerful, even while standing in line to pay for half an hour.

Love these birdhouses and benches, i got one that is made of barn wood in the shape of a church, has a little sign on it "Whispering Hope", suppose i should take a picture of that to show :)
It was a great time, wandered about for 2 hours!!!  Just thinking and dreaming and listening to the music, people and smelling the smell of Christmas.
It is very cold here, but clear skies, the promised snow did not materialize as it so often does not East of the Cascades.

Is she trying to help? or just in the way? Such a cute little arm!!!
I had ONE trick or treater last night- a 2 yr old Darth Vadar, almost worth buying all that candy for, gave most of it to my niece :) So now i know that there is no need to bother in future years :)
Life is a continual learning experience.
