Summer Image

Lupine in my yard. They just magically come up, I did not plant them! and they are pretty when they are like this, right at first, but when they go to seed they look well, rather 'seedy'

Got down to 40 last night and it was refreshing, i know many around the country just stay warm all night, we don't and it is nice after a hot, dry day! Tomorrow going to get the tow package on the RV and the pick-up, all the parts came, so am all ready, it is scary to think about driving while towing something else behind that loooong RV. Just keep telling myself, it is a learning experience and we all can learn something new. Right? Right!

It is the end of the month already! We are having some wonderful weather right now, But June has been rather a bust, cool and rainy, which is very unusual for us. Have plans for the beach on the 5th, sort of maiden voyage for me, alone in the RV towing the truck. Gulp, but enough of that attitude, i will be just fine and have plenty to do with the upkeep and driving to NOT fear the alone time.
Still getting ready and keep lugging things to the RV and stowing them away, things i am sure that i will need!!!
July is here and the middle of the summer, lots going on in Bend with the quilt show and Summerfest and many cycling events, there has been lots of traffic which is good for the region. We have been rather homebodies and not really partaken of many activities, but do plan to take in the Deschutes County Fair the end of July first of August, always love a parade!

Went for a ride to the mountains today, on top Devil's Lake and the bottom Mt Bachelor. It was a beautiful day, warm up there even with the snow that was left. Even went 'off road' on little mtn roads with pick up and it did admirably. Things are sort of falling apart here, BUT i am getting everything in order for the 'big' trip. Coast trip in a little over a week will be 1st outing on my own, scary stuff, BUT one more step on the way toward moving forwards.

New truck

Here is my new truck, soon to be my 'toad' a towed vehicle behind a motorhome. Mom always said if you had too much of something you were poor, i am car poor. all these vehicles and no place to call my own, to live in, well i suppose you could call the RV that, as i will soon be living in it. but it is by no stretch a house. It is a nice little truck and i think my brother and i did good, time will tell.
I slept in the rv last night, it was fun. it was such a nice day and the breeze was blowing in madras, on the way to Gateway. they were baling hay across the road and you could hear the steady thump-thump. he was out quite late too! the smell was wonderful, clean air and fresh hay that has lain for awhile in the sun. my lovey by my side. we had a good time
THEN this morning, the compacter started up, they are also grading said road, the sun came up the horses wanted to be fed and a loooong train went by, bellowing at each intersection of all the little roads with no railroad gate at the crossing, sooooo, it was time to get up, way earlier than my normal 9 or 10 am!!!! but i had gone to bed/sleep earlier too, all that fresh air i guess.

Yesterday was my son's birthday, he turned 40!!! How did that happen? Hope you had a good one my sweet boy!

These are not 'Springy" but i liked the picture!

Am getting my pick-up on Monday and am excited about that, will have a pic of it then, a 1999 Ford Ranger 4wd XLT, 'to match the RV' as my brother says, whoa!!! i did not think he even thought of such things! He was with me when i bought it in Madras, so that was fun and somewhat of a relief to have someone other than myself there looking at it, as a 'guy' he looked at and saw and asked different questions than i did and i would not have thought of. Next week will be spent getting the tow package together and put on, which is a scary thing, but then this whole thing has been sort of scary, but have gone one step at a time and have had people to call on; brother Jerry, son and a friend , Dave, down in California, who i got the RV from, who is VERY knowledgeable. So, i just keep telling myself, one thing at a time. I will get there/somewhere.

Pretty Amazing

People are pretty amazing. these are life-size bronze statues out in the country by Alfalfa, a small community east of Bend. They are beautiful, never saw anything like this, there was another way in their lane by the house, but did not feel free to just drive on their property for a close-up, but these were right by the road and obviously placed there for the public's enjoyment and enjoy them we did. and this picture was just about perfect echoed in the water of the pond near them,makes two for the price of one!!!

16th

June 16th will be Mom & Dad's 64th wedding anniversary. This is an iris from her yard. She did love her iris and this one has a really sweet smell to it. I have them in my yard as she had shared them with me when she would thin them out and i brought some of the bulbs with me to this newer place that i am living at. I hope that i will always have them with me, they are so beautiful as was my Mom and Dad!
It is also my good friend Carol's daughter's birthday!!!!
Happy Birthday sweet Darah!!!!!
So it is a special day. Darah had a new baby boy, Laithe, on March 2nd and that was my Mom's birthday, there are connections in this world.

Monday!

Where did the week-end go anyway! I helped a new neighbor, DeeDee's boss work on her yard, it is a weedy mess, Saturday, then i collapsed :) Sunday worked in the yard and did chores, the pick poop thing, put out the garbage and get the front and back decks in order now that we FINALLY have some good weather, it is nice to be able to sit out there in CLEAN chairs and take in the sun or read in the shade, or even eat a meal is nice too. And our back yard is very private and nice to be by yourself and Luci does like being out there is I am out there. BUT not with any water. You turn on the water and she runs for the house, she may get wet don't you know?
Nothing else exciting happened, read and watched old movies late at night. No visitors or anything like that. Just everyday life.

Here they are, Luci's nemesis, She wanted at them sooooo bad. She was just quivering with the need and would not take her eyes off them. They were quite happy and don't think they ever saw her up on the table!!! They were running around, eating the pieces of bread and Doritos that we tossed their way. They were playing and chasing one another, put on quite the show for us!!! scampering here and there, up and down the rocks. I suppose Doritos are not in their normal diet......

Bright Sunshiny Day

Friend Sonja and I went for a drive to Crooked River, we packed a lunch, gassed up and were on our way! Nice, slow drive, we had a good time, very quiet on the river, hardly any people and the ones there were friendly, waving and fishing. Everything was green and wildflowers were blooming. Luci would have loved to get after those chipmunks, but we would not allow it, such spoiled sports!

Larsson Books

Here are pics of the Santiam river, it does not show how muddy it was tho, but it was fast and furious! Don't think i have ever seen it so full of water. We have had an in ordinate amount of rain this year tho! Everything over here in the desert is green and blooming, it is quite amazing. There are times when the dry is green and feels so earthy!

Am doing the Madras shuffle today BUT have to wait until 1pm to leave as am waiting to pick up some things to take to Jerry. I just hate waiting to start something, want to get going, but have caught up on all of my reading of papers and magazines. Just finished "the Girl" series by Larsson (see sidebar of books read) it ended where she took Blomvist back into her life, as a friend, so there was room for further books, but the author sent all 3 books to a publisher then passed away in 2004, don't know why, but it is really sad that these 3 books are all there is. I have really enjoyed the series, got them all on my Kindle and just zipped thru them!!!! Like to read authors and it is sadness and despair that there are no further books in the future to look forward to, but if you are a reader and enjoy mysteries/crime, they are very good.

Boy it is windy out there right now, but blue skies and expected high temps for further into the week. Did yard work yesterday and boy my butt muscles hurts today, what is with that?

HOME!!!

Yes, i am home, and all settled in. It was a nice drive over the pass, rained alot on top and the Santiam was really FULL and muddy, lots of trees down, don't think i have ever seen it so high. The little trees were all budded out and the dogwood was blooming and the rhodies were starting in places, in a week or so they will be beautiful!!! Janmarie doing well, she had her follow-up doctor appt on Thursday and he was pleased, she is healing as he expected, just taking much longer than she thought it would, BUT he knew it would be more than what she thought. She has friends there and young kids that want to spend nights with auntie janmarie and i was taking up their place, soooo, here i am. Now i can get ready to getting the RV ready and look for a tow vehicle. Brother Jerry is all excited about taking me to get a gun, GEEZ, at least their minds will be at ease that there is the illusion of my being protected. If you remember i did get my concealed handgun permit back in March of last year, so that part is all done.
Well, here i am, Luci is happy to be where she is familiar with things and had a grand reunion with DeeDee.

Oh, I did get an awesome pedicure and got the color changed to a 'summer' color. Don't know why i have this "foot" fetish to show my feet, but it is something to put on the blog and you can say that it is different, HA!!!! :)

Lazy Daze

We are having lazy, rainy days here in McMinnville, just not much going at all except staying dry and doing daily chores. One would think i could get some gumption to DO something constructive, hmmmm, think not!
